Pruning

Winter pruning marks the true beginning of the vine’s annual cycle, setting the foundation for the entire growing season. During this crucial stage, each cut is made with intention and foresight, shaping not only the structure of the vine but also the potential quality of the future harvest. It is a moment of discipline and restraint, where careful decisions determine how the plant will distribute its strength in the months ahead.

From the outset, we deliberately privilege quality over quantity. Rather than pursuing high yields, we aim to preserve a natural equilibrium between limited production and optimal concentration. By maintaining lower yields, the vine can channel its energy into fewer clusters, resulting in grapes of greater depth, intensity, and character. This philosophy reflects our commitment to authenticity and precision in every vintage.

As spring arrives, green pruning and shoot thinning further refine this balance. Excess shoots are carefully removed, and the canopy is managed to ensure proper airflow and ideal exposure to sunlight. This meticulous work allows each cluster to receive the right amount of light and warmth, supporting even ripening and enhancing aromatic development. By guiding the vine’s energy with precision and respect, we ensure that every stage of growth contributes harmoniously to the final expression of the wine.
